For today’s prompt:
There comes to mind a very affluent person when I think of the word pedigree (and also the dog food brand, but the man popped into my head first). I can see him in my mind’s eye – tall, thin, and for some reason, wearing a monocle! It’s a cartoon-ish representation of the typical wealthy person crossed with the haughty attitude of Chi-Fu (the emperor’s adviser) from Disney’s Mulan.
It also reminds me of a scene from the bollywood movie, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ where Amitabh Bacchan is enraged at his son who has fallen in love with a girl beneath his upper-class station and wants to marry her.
‘Kya woh ladki haamari sanskriti samajh payegi, hamare reeti, riwaz samajh payegi?’
which translates into
‘Will that girl ever understand our lifestyle, traditions, and values?’
This seems like a rather negative interpretation of ‘pedigree’, however, these are just examples that came to me in the moment.
